Our culture

We didn’t build this brand for everyone. That’s not how businesses work anymore. Hobo Rec. was designed with our tribe in mind, one with aligned values and cultural appetites. That old cliche rings true here and we’re owning it—this is a disruptive brand in a disruptive industry. 🤘

Our name was chosen with a sense of wanderlust in mind, one shared by wayfarers who rode newly developed railroads in the late nineteenth century. Also, it’s edgy and a conversation-starter. Getting people talking may be a surefire way to break cannabis into the mainstream. So we surround ourselves with happy, driven humans who like loud speakers.

Our group

We were publicans first, by virtue of two decades experience in hospitality as Donnelly Group, running public houses, cocktail clubs and barbershops. Our DNA is rich with an affinity for culture, relentless pursuit of great products and warm service attitude. We’ve summoned our passion for these things to energize into this modern retail brand.

Although our group is 20 years experienced, anyone of us would tell you that we’re just getting started. This frame of mind keeps the company nimble and creative. We work smart, fast and with a sense of purpose—but not always in that order.

Our Vancouver office sits atop a well-used pub, barbershop and restaurant close to a beautiful ocean waterfront and mountainscape. All things that inspire our day to day journey through this newly minted and wildly curious industry.
